In the transformative years following their declarations of independence in 1991, Turkic-speaking countries in Central Asia and the South Caucasus faced the challenge of breaking away from the Soviet-influenced past. With the pioneering role of the Republic of Turkey, these states started conducting meetings with a focus on reducing dependency on the USSR and engaging in agreements spanning transportation, culture, education, and trade, emphasizing the strengthening of sovereignty and the revival of historical identities. This collaborative effort culminated in the formation of the "The Assembly of Turkic Speaking States" marked by a series of summit meetings between the Heads of States, fostering integration and addressing post-bipolar world challenges until 2010.
